4th Lecture for “Current Topics in Heritage Science” series (2023-2024)

Open and FAIR Science with a case study from the FAIR Phytoliths project delivered by Emma Karoune.

The “Current Topics in Heritage Science” (CTinHS)  lectures are organized by the emerging professionals of HS Academy, a collaborative initiative between IPERION HS and E-RIHS

The 4th lecture of the HS Academy “Current Topics in Heritage Science” series (Ed. 2023-2024), will be delivered by Emma Karoune on January 25th, at 3 pm (CET) on the following topic: Open and FAIR Science with a case study from the FAIR Phytoliths project.

Lecture 4 of the 2nd edition will introduce the participants to the main practices of open science and why all researchers should start moving towards more open working in archaeology. It will include a discussion of the benefits of practising open science as well as touch on the barriers that have to be overcome. There will also be a case study about the FAIR Phytoliths project – this is a project that aimed to assess phytolith data in terms of the FAIR data principles and has formed an open community to tackle the implementation of open science practices.
